Bulgarians do not trust public media much, but still need them

Bulgarians do not trust public media, but they see them as something needed, as they get informed by them on a daily basis, results of a study by the Conrad Adenauer Foundation, conducted in 10 countries in Southeast Europe, show.

About 81% of Bulgarians see public media as important factor for democracy. 69 percent of Bulgarian believe that public media are politically influenced. Only 24% of the respondents trust the Bulgarian National Television, while 31% say they trust the Bulgarian National Radio. However, private radios have a smaller audience - 41%, while the total audience of BNT and BNR is 71%. The expectations for the program content of Bulgarian public media are: news - 74%, educational programs - 68% movies - 66%.
