Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council elects today the new Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria. The hearing of the only candidate for the position-the current Deputy Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev began under unprecedented security measures around the building of the Supreme Judicial Council downtown Sofia due to protests in support and against his candidature. The main reason for the discontent of the people protesting against Ivan Geshev’s appointment is the fact that Geshev is the only candidate. The main slogan of the ones who support Ivan Geshev reads “Geshev-the Dignified Prosecutor General”.
