Only free, politically and economically independent media can resist dangerous processes that threaten democracy. This was stated by President Rumen Radev at a meeting with Deutsche Welle CEO Peter Limbourg, who is visiting Bulgaria.

The Ambassador of Germany to Bulgaria Christoph Eichhorn has also participated in the meeting at Dondukov 2, the press office of the Head of State has announced. The two discussed ways to ensure financial and political independence of media, including public media budgets, challenges to professional journalistic standards in a competitive social media environment, and the promotion of media literacy for the audience.
