Bulgaria's cooperation with the Jewish community in the U.S. is important, both for the development of strategic partnership with the United States as well as for Bulgarian-Israeli relations, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva said. At a meeting with Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), David Harris, during the 74th UN session in New York, Minister Zaharieva added that Bulgaria relied on the support of the American Jewish Committee to promote untapped potential in cooperation with the US in areas such as trade, energy, tourism, as well as visa liberalization. The two expressed satisfaction that Bulgaria is a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and has an active role in preventing and countering anti-Semitism.
