PM Borissov also pointed out Bulgaria’s interest in increasing exports to Japan, as well as in strengthening business ties in information and communications technologies, automation, machine building, automotive parts manufacturing and construction. Bulgaria's Prime Minister has welcomed Tokyo's initiative for co-operation with the Western Balkans.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva pointed out that the entry into force of the EU-Japan strategic and economic partnership agreements will have an additional beneficial effect on the Bulgarian-Japanese cooperation.
