Bulgaria outperforms Turkey in a number of indicators in the competition to attract a new Volkswagen plant, Economy Minister Emil Karanikolov said. We outperform Turkey with EU membership, lower operating costs, highly skilled workforce and the locations we offer. Turkey's strengths are in the larger car market, its experience in the automotive industry and the fact that the state could buy a large number of cars from Volkswagen. The Bulgarian minister added that Bulgaria is still in the competition for the construction of the new plant. The final decision on its location will be taken in September.
