Veterinary experts from the EU have arrived to Bulgaria in order to check measures taken by the Bulgarian authorities against the spread of African swine fever. There are more than 10 identified areas of infection. In addition, preventive actions are taking place in the regions of Pernik, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora, Sliven and Yambol. Roads and truck stops along the Struma and Trakia highways are being disinfected. Disinfection and cleaning of garbage containers is being carried out at the Shipka Pass and the Pass of the Republic, as well as the first-class roads in the Stara Zagora region. Roads linking the Strezimirovtsi border checkpoint and the village of Filipovtsi near Tran are also being treated. Municipalities and towns’ mayors have received instructions about the actions they need to take to prevent the spread of the disease.
