17 000 pigs to be culled in region of Rousse

In the region of an industrial pig farm in the village of Nikolovo, Rousse district, 17 000 pigs will be culled because of a new outbreak of African swine fever. The access of outsider on the territory of the complex has been forbidden. Compulsory disinfection of incoming and outgoing cars and people has started. “The situation in the area is disturbing," because just two kilometers away from Nikolovo two other big pig farms are situated. Together with the farm in Nikolovo, they provide 1/3 of pork for the country. The actions against the spread of the disease also involve the army and gendarmerie.
