Bulgarian Minister of Justice Danail Kirilov said he would resign if the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria was not dropped by the end of the mandate of the current European Commission. Minister Kirilov explained that he had declared this position to European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Jourova after discussing the draft project, prepared by Kirilov for a mechanism for judicial investigations against the presidents of the two Supreme Courts and the Prosecutor General. The Minister is convinced that monitoring would be dropped. Kirilov quoted Yourova saying that Bulgaria had marked very serious progress and that there was a chance to end the mechanism.
