In 2018 the average price of 1 decare (0.1 hectare) of agricultural land in Bulgaria amounted to EUR 481, which is 7.9% more as compared to 2017. Last year the price of farmland increased with 12.6% as compared to 2017, while the price of pastures went down by 16.8% year on year. The price of farmland was highest in Bulgaria’s Northeast region-EUR 688 per decare, while in the Southeast region it remained almost unchanged as compared to the previous year. The price of farmland in Bulgaria’s Southwest region dwindled with 53.4% as compared to the previous year. In Bulgaria’s Northwest and Northeast region it went down by 4.5% and 4.0% respectively year on year. In 2018 the average rental cost paid per decare of farmland reached EUR 24.5, which was 4.3% more as compared to the previous year. Highest rental is paid in Bulgaria’s Northeast region- EUR 35 per decare. In 2018 the price of rental increased in all Bulgarian regions, except for the Central South Region.
