President of Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio visits Bulgaria

Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met with the President of the Venice Commission with the Council of Europe Gianni Buquicchio who is paying a visit to Bulgaria on occasion of the 140th anniversary since the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution. Minister Zaharieva assured Mr Gianni Buquicchio that Sofia continues to work towards implementing the recommendations of the Venice Commission regarding the functioning of the Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office. Gianni Buquicchio welcomed Bulgaria’s progress in the judicial reform field and Minister Zaharieva’s personal contribution who served as Minister of Justice in the previous cabinet. Ekaterina Zaharieva and Gianni Buquicchio agreed that the EU needs to play a more active role in the solution of the security problems in Libya and Algeria.
