The week starts under the sign of resignations in Bulgaria’s cabinet

Bulgaria’s Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva and this country’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Vanya Koleva handed in their resignations on Saturday as the anti-corruption body started an investigation into controversial purchase of luxury property by members of the ruling party. Later, Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov accepted their resignations. Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier Tomislav Donchev told the Bulgarian National Radio that the scandal has the potential to cause damage, especially in a pre-election situation. It may cause an even higher political resonance. The Chairman of the parliamentary group of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov should provide more information on this case, Tomislav Donchev commented. The left-wing coalition BSP for Bulgaria insists that Tsvetanov hands in his resignation and leaves the Bulgarian policy. The issue is expected to be subject to Parliamentary debates this week.
