Photo: Geori Korneikov - BNR

The Bulgarian Parliament has introduced standards for sulfur, ash and moisture content in solid fuels used for domestic heating.

Final amendments to the Clean Air Act have been adopted. The majority in parliament identified coal and coal briquettes as solid fuels but excluded wood from the category. Inspections will be carried out by the State Agency for Metrology. Mayors will also be responsible for ensuring air cleanliness.
