At a discussion on the transparency of the election process, President Rumen Radev proposed that the question be considered of introducing video surveillance at constituency election commissions.

This will ensure transparency of vote counting, the Bulgarian head of state said. President Radev described as “shallow” the arguments for refusing to introduce machine voting. It will, in the President’s words, solve the problems of invalid ballots, vote rigging, tally sheet fraud.

“It is important that the two elections due in 2019 – for European Parliament and the local elections - be transparent and fair,” Rumen Radev said.
