113 out of the 209 Bulgarian municipalities applying for the WIFI4EU initiative, promoting free access to Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens in public spaces, have been approved, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society has announced.

The municipalities will be able to use their vouchers, worth 15,000 euro, over a period of 18 months to build Wi-Fi wireless networks in public spaces, such as parks, squares, public buildings, libraries, health centres and museums.

A total of 2,800 municipalities across Europe have been approved to receive vouchers. The free Wi-Fi will be available for a minimum of three years.
