Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov met in Helsinki with the Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipilä. Premier Sipilä congratulated his Bulgarian counterpart Borissov on Bulgaria’s successful Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the excellent choice of the priorities during the Bulgarian EU Presidency, including the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Boyko Borissov underlined that Bulgaria and Finland protect successfully the EU external borders with the help of a strong political will, effective border police and agreements with third countries. Premiers Borissov and Sipilä discussed ways to boost cooperation in power engineering and Finland’s model on the use of Russian nuclear reactors in that country’s nuclear power engineering. It also became clear during the meeting between Premiers Borissov and Sipilä that the number of Finnish tourists visiting Bulgaria has doubled and that Bulgaria and Finland will start exchanging students and lecturers.
