On November 2 Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov meets in the coastal city of Varna with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, Romania’s Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić within the frameworks of the traditional Bulgaria-Greece-Romania-Serbia high-level Cooperation Council. Premiers Borissov, Tsipras and Dăncilă and President Vučić are to discuss regional infrastructural projects, European topics, as well as topics related to stability in the Balkans. The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu will join the format at the invitation of Premier Borissov. On Thursday (Novemer 1) Premier Netanyahu announced after the meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Borissov that Israel, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Romania will also discuss the possibility for gas supplies from Israel to Bulgaria through Greece. Political analyst Vladimir Chukov told the Bulgarian National Radio that the summit between, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Romania and Israel is unprecedented and “legitimizes a new regional entity called Balkan Benelux”. In January this year an EC spokesperson voiced confidence that such a space will emerge between the Danube River and the Mediterranean and between the Black Sea and the Halkidiki Peninsula, i.e. between Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
