Between 2015 and 2017 the average life expectancy in Bulgaria was 74.8 years, or 0.1 years higher as compared to the previous period 2014-2016. Average life expectancy for males was 71.3 years. The average life expectancy for females was 7 years higher-78.4 years. The ageing of the population is the most significant trend ascertained by the report. At the end of 2017 the people aged 65 or above were 21.0% of the whole Bulgarian population.
