On October 28 (Sunday) at 4.00 am Bulgaria shifts back to the astronomical time. The clocks will be set one hour backward. The Astronomical time will continue until the last Sunday of March 2019. The summer time (daylight saving time) is a practice of setting the clocks forward 1 hour from standard time during the summer months, in order to make better use of natural daylight. It was introduced in Bulgaria on April 1, 1979.

A national survey held by the Bulgarian Council of Ministers shows that 96% of the Bulgarian citizens are against the seasonal adjustments of the clock. 51% of the surveyed nationals prefer the summer time (DST) and 38% of the Bulgarians voted in favor of the astronomical (winter) time.
