“Combating trafficking in human beings and cybercrime are high on the agenda of the EU, and are a priority for the Bulgarian government,” said Interior Minister Mladen Marinov at a conference on combating human trafficking and cybercrime in Sofia.

He stated that Bulgaria has considerable successes in this sphere, adding that there have been eight investigations, jointly with other EU countries, over the January-September period alone, of them five are connected with human trafficking.

Bulgaria’s European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel laid emphasis on the enhanced cooperation with internet platforms and internet service providers as an important factor in the fight against human trafficking.
