Archaeologists have discovered a treasure in the Kaliakra Fortress on the northern Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The treasure was discovered in a little clay pot hidden under the floor of a room that burned down at the end of the 14th century, the National Museum of History reported. The find consists of 957 objects - silver and gold coins, buckles, buttons, earrings, etc. The coins in the treasure are Ottoman and Bulgarian and are extremely valuable. The Ottoman coins date back to the period of rule of Sultan Bayazid Yildirim (1389-1402) and his predecessor, Murad I (1362-1389).
The treasure was hidden during one of Tatar attacks against settlements along the Northern Black Sea coast, archaeologists said.
