A little over 5,000 illegal migrants have been captured by the Turkish border authorities since the beginning of the year near Edirne in an attempt to enter Bulgaria, the Bulgarian News Agency BTA reports.
A total of 13,900 migrants have been detained during the first 8 months of the year, as they were trying to cross Turkey's borders with Bulgaria and Greece.
