Food accounts for almost one third of Bulgarians’ total expenses, and with regard to this indicator, the country falls into the same group as Romania, Latvia and Estonia. The second biggest expenditure item are home maintenance costs: water, electricity, gas and central heating or solid fuel bills – around 15 percent.
