UNESCO has supported the decision of the Bulgarian government to amend the partially operational plan for the management of Pirin National Park. The modified document allows for the start of procedures for a project for the construction of a second gondola lift in the mountain resort of Bansko. During the 42 th Annual Session of UNESCO in Bahrain Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov, received the support of most Member States of the Committee of the world organization. According to the Committee's members, the partial amendment to the plan did not require an environmental assessment that Bulgarian environmentalists call for.
