Representatives of the orchestras of the Bulgarian National Radio organized a protest in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, the venue of the EU-Western Balkans summit taking place today, demanding, once again, a 50 percent increase in their salaries.

“The protest is a reminder of our demands, we also want to let the European leaders know that in Bulgaria, culture is very much underappreciated and musicians who make music, culture, are vastly underpaid,” said Atanas Karafezliev, trombone player and chairman of the Podkrepa BNR trade union, and added that musicians in Bulgaria have the lowest salaries in Europe.
