The China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has confirmed its investment interest in the Belene nuclear power plant project. This was made clear during a meeting Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova held with representatives of the corporation, the Ministry of Energy has announced.
Tomislav Donchev and Temenuzhka Petkova pointed out that for the project to be implemented, a call for proposals procedure will be followed to find a strategic investor.
“No state guarantees will be given for the project, nor will any long-term contracts be concluded for the purchase of the electricity produced,” said Tomislav Donchev. The CNNC representatives confirmed their intention of taking part in a call for proposals for the selection of an investor in the Belene NPP project.
