Consumer organizations, businesses and national authorities discuss New Deal for Consumers package

Consumer organizations, businesses and national authorities in charge of consumer protection discussed the EC legislative package called New Deal for Consumers.

Ognian Zlatev, head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria commented that the new mechanism will extend the protection of online buyers. In an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio, Dimitar Margaritov, chairman of the Commission for Consumer Protection explained that a new philosophy of sanctions will be put in place, whereby fines will from now on be calculated as a percentage of the turnover of offenders, rather than a fixed sum.
