Bulgaria’s admission to the Eurozone waiting room is a matter of months, said for Bulgarian National TV Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Vice-President.

The decision on the country’s admission is up to the European Central Bank and the Eurozone countries.

Dombrovskis, who, as European commissioner is in charge of the euro and social dialogue, is in Sofia to take part in a discussion on Bulgaria’s admission to the Eurozone, economic logic vs. myths.

At a meeting with Valdis Dombrovskis PM Borissov commented that in practice, Bulgaria has fulfilled the numerical criteria for admission to the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II).

Dombrovskis commended the reduction of Bulgaria’s external debt, which reached 25.4 percent of the GDP at the end of 2017, and which ranks Bulgaria third among the EU countries with the lowest government gross debt.

Valdis Dombrovskishas also met with President Rumen Radev who has pointed out that the strategic perspective of Bulgaria is to develop its European integration and this is impossible without future accession to the Eurozone.
