Bulgaria refutes allegation of Spanish veto on EU-Western Balkans summit declaration

Genoveva Chervenakova, spokesperson for the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU stated that the ambassadors of all 28 EU member states, including the ambassador of Spain, have approved the draft declaration, to be adopted during the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia in May.

The document was approved last week in Brussels and was sent to the countries of the Western Balkans for consultations. Chervenakova’s words refute the allegation by the Spanish El Pais newspaper that Madrid would veto the draft declaration because Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy allegedly did not want his signature to sit next to the signature of the PM of Kosovo.
