The youngest musicians of the Bulgarian National Radio invite us to a colorful concert that will take place on April 23 in BNR’s Studio 1. Most of the songs that people will hear are works by contemporary Bulgarian authors. "The Radio Children's Choir"has several jazz projects in their history. Years ago, they recorded an album together with the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio with conductor Vili Kazasyan, before they later presented a program with his successor Yanko Miladinov.
“In our repertoire we have always had wonderful songs b yKrassimi rMiletkov, Borislava Taneva, Vladimir Dzhambazov, Dora Draganova and others. The Bulgarian National Radio Children's Choir likes to perform music containing jazz elements," says Ilina Todorova, founder and conductor of the ensemble. “It is known that Louis Armstrong for the first time included a child's voice in his song. This happened at a concert in Berlin in 1959 in the performance o fUncle Satchmo's Lullaby – a song we also perform at the concert. Bulgarian composers from previous generations have also written music in this style. People will also listen to works for children by Bentzion Eliezer, Alexander Brazitzov, Cyril Cibulka. These songs are not only very nice but are also useful. For example, Lyubomir Denev's songs like ‘Cat’, ‘Fly’ and ‘Daily Routine’ were created to introduce children to the jazz style. We will also perform songs by Emil Strandzhev, Todor Yankulov ...”
On the stage children will perform together with Atanas Hadzhiev (saxophone and clarinet), Atanas Miladinov (piano) and other soloists of the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio, as well as with one of the most unique and renowned contemporary Bulgarian musicians - trumpeter Rosen Zahariev-Roko.
