Bulgaria is a reliable ally that contributes to the alliance's collective security in many ways, Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations Curtis Scaparrotti said at a press conference in Sofia with Bulgarian Chief of Defence Lieutenant-General Andrei Botsev.

Scaparotti pointed out that Bulgaria had capable armed forces and was an integral part of the training and defense mission in Afghanistan.

"According to us, the road to security in the Black Sea is going through NATO's more active engagement in the region in order to provide reliable options for dialogue between the alliance, partners, and Russia in terms of military activities in the Black Sea," Botsev said. General Curtis Scaparrotti is on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Gen. Andrei Botsev. The guest was also welcomed by President Rumen Radev.
