Bulgarian Minister of Defense Krassimir Karakachanov has confirmed there was a framework agreement for the repairs of the MiG-29 jet fighters of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. The agreement will soon be signed directly with the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG.

Procedures for appealing the agreement by a Ukrainian company have been closed. Business intermediaries have been avoided for the deal, unlike previous repairs, in order to make the repairworks cheaper for the taxpayer.

Minister Karakachanov's confirmation came after the non-governmental Atlantic Council of Bulgaria called for the repair and maintenance of fighters to be entrusted to a country that is a NATO ally.
