The head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church Patriarch Neophyte said, in an interview for the Russian TASS news agency, that the upcoming visit to Bulgaria by Russia’s Patriarch Kirill will serve to promote the spiritual unity of the two nations.

Patriarch Kirill will pay a visit to Bulgaria from 2 to 4 March to take part in the celebrations of the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman domination. The two patriarchs will hold a worship service together in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives for Bulgaria’s liberation in the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878 and will meet with Bulgarian public officials.
