Building the infrastructure in the Western Balkans will cost 30 billion euro: Boyko Borissov

According to approximate estimates, to construct the transport, rail and digital infrastructure in the Western Balkans will cost 30 billion euro, said Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov at the opening of the third EBRD Western Balkans investment summit taking place in London.

The Bulgarian prime minister made this estimate and presented maps of Pan-European corridors 4,8 and 10 as well as the rail infrastructure in the region. In Borissov’s words, everything can be constructed within the next 7-8 years, provided there is a clear plan and financing from the EBRD, the Juncker plan and co-financing from the national budgets. 30 billion euro for the infrastructure in this “piece of heaven”, the Western Balkans, is not much, considering that around 50 billion was spent on the wars in the region years ago, the Bulgarian prime minister commented.
