Desy Andonova about various manifestations of love and her concert on 14 February

БНР Новини

Desy Andonova is known through her involvement in various projects. The most popular among them are Phuture Shock and Sentimental Swingers. In the recent months she has performed on stage with a bunch of excellent musicians who have teamed up with her for her long-awaited solo album. With them the singer will give a concert in a popular club in Sofia today – a date with two big occasions to celebrate – St. Tryphon Zarezan (The Pruner), a traditional festival of wine marked under the Julian calendar, and the more recently introduced St. Valentine’s Day. Desy Andonova’s concert will go with the motto Love Sounds with Desy.

“To me love is the foundation of life and this probably finds an expression in my music”, says Desy. “Perhaps this is the reason to invite me for the concert on the day of love. I believe that love should be celebrated every day, not once a year. This great feeling has so many manifestations and I enjoy all of them. I think also that art is one of the manifestations of love, and one of the most important ones. The concert features pieces I have written – in the brilliant rendition of the musicians I work with: Vasil Vutev (drums/MPC), Bojidar Vasilev – Trom Boby (trombone/synths), Dimitar Gorchakov (piano) and George Donchev (double bass). Each of them is a very special artiste for me, so I am happy that we are together working in the studio and they will be part of the album I am recording. Cooperation with them is genuine inspiration. I am aware how important it is to come across the right people in the right moment. I have set myself deadlines many times but I have failed to keep them and the disappointment is always great. This time while making the album I have decided to give more time to it so that it could come naturally. I think I will complete it soon. The recent months have been marked by the loss of Roni (Andronia Popova). We had been friends since childhood and sang together in the Sentimental Swingers trio. Her death was a shock, a catharsis for me and all her friends. A while ago I wrote a song born after I lost two souls that mattered a lot to me. It took me a long time to find the right words (one of my precious friends Aled Ordu helped me with the lyrics). Now this song is dedicated to Roni. It is called One of the Stars. One of my foreign friends helped me with the lyrics and the song is beautiful.”

The fact that the song One of the Starsis in English is not an exception but a rule in the performance practice of Desy Andonova. However, the foreign language lyrics never raise a barrier between magnetic Desy and her admirers. All the songs in her new album are in English. Some of the songs are already known from her appearances with High Time and with other formations.
