The Bulgarian National Assembly rejected President Radev’s veto on the anti-corruption law. 146 Bulgarian MPs from GERB, the United Patriots, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and Volya parties voted against President Radev’s veto and 76 MPs from the Bulgarian Socialist Party voted in favor. According to Bulgaria’s head of state Radev, the anti-corruption law will not result in more effective fight against corruption, as expected by the political parties which tabled the new law. President Radev and the Bulgarian Socialist Party voiced the opinion that the rejection of the veto on the anticorruption law proves the lack of will to fight corruption.
