The issue of lifting sanctions against Russia will not be raised during the Bulgarian EU Presidency, because there is a decision already made to extend sanctions by end-July 2018, the Minister for the Bulgarian EU Presidency Lilyana Pavlova said.

A working group that analyzes the impact of sanctions will continue work so that European leaders could make an optimum decision in July.

Minister Pavlova also said that with taking up the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January 2018 Bulgaria had received from Estonia 120 files – sets of legislative proposals for various sectors that this country should move forward for adoption. Among them the minister singled out the sectors of energy, transport, the social sphere and the most challenging ones – security & migration and Brexit.
