Public Council for Bulgarians Abroad with Vice President holds first meeting

The Public Council for Bulgarians Abroad under the umbrella of Vice President Iliana Iotova held its first meeting.

The Council comprises representatives of the executive branch, prominent scientists, political analysts, university professors, journalists and public figures. The Council discussed different problems Bulgarians abroad face – from the way the Bulgarian communities abroad are represented, the study of the Bulgarian language and Bulgarian educational programmes, to problems connected with Bulgarian citizenship. The institutions stated their ambition to pool their efforts and draw up a register of Bulgarian organizations abroad.
