Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev lit the main candle of Hanukkah at the Sofia Synagogue. President Radev and his wife took part at the ceremony together with the Jewish community in Bulgaria. In his speech Bulgaria’s head of state Radev sent message for peace, understanding and prosperity. I am proud that the Bulgarian nation knows how to mark together the feasts of all its communities. The Bulgarian Jews have always stood alongside their compatriots in the fight for a strong, free, prosperous and spiritually uplifted Bulgaria. That is why the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during the dark days of the Second World War was no accident, President Radev further said.
