Use of special investigative techniques in Bulgaria is growing

In 2016 the number of warrants to use special investigative techniques has gone up by 21 percent compared to 2015, a report by the national bureau monitoring this kind of activity reads.

Surveillance procedures were applied with regard to 2,749 persons, or 100 more than in 2015. Special investigative techniques were used most often in investigations into complicity to organized criminal groups or drug trafficking, the report reads.
