Sofia – European Capital of Sport initiative officially launched

The official start was given to the Sofia - European Capital of Sport initiative with a moving ceremony and show at the National Sports Academy.

The event was attended by legendary Bulgarian athletes, among them Olympic champions and medalists. Gian Francesco Lupatelli, President of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation /АCES Europe/ presented Elen Gerdjikov, chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council with the flag of the European Capital of Sport. Gerdjikov stated that sports for everyone remains one of the top priorities in the work of Sofia municipality.
