A cyclone passing through the Balkans brought heavy rainfalls to Bulgaria, causing power outages and evacuation of families in a number of villages and towns. Crisis headquarters were established to monitor the situation across the country.

State of emergency was declared in the village of Gurlyano near Kyustendil after heavy rainfalls caused the local river of Bistritsa to flow out of its banks. Authorities have reported about evacuated families in Pernik, Sofia, and Kyustendil. Heavy traffic combined with intense weather conditions caused problems to drivers in the Bulgarian capital city, police said.

In 11 regions of western and central Bulgaria there is still yellow code warning of dangerous rainfalls
