The Bulgarian member of the European Parliament from Gerb and the European People’s Party Eva Maydell has been elected president of the European Movement International.

The European Movement International is a network of pro-European organizations from 39 countries, including non-governmental organizations, trade unions, business organizations, political parties, local government. The organization was established more than 70 years ago, and for the first time a woman has been elected as its president.

Our goal is "to awaken the real debate about the future of Europe with the participation of citizens. Another important focus of my work will be to encourage the activity of younger generations. We will strengthen considerably the network of the current 39 national member organizations so that the voice of Europe is heard much more strongly in their capitals, but we also hope to receive from their representatives enough information and ideas that we can apply in Brussels ", Maydell told the Bulgarian National Radio.
