President Radev: Success in justice will come when politicians start feeling accountable to citizens rather than Brussels

We will have success in the justice system when politicians start reporting to citizens rather than Brussels. This is what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev told reporters. According to him, comments on the EC report under the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism are controversial because the report itself is overwrought. I think that Bulgarians have long stopped relying on these reports because they shift responsibility - instead of being responsible to the Bulgarian citizens, Bulgarian politicians are held accountable to Brussels, the head of state said. According to him, the most important thing was for Bulgarian citizens to be convinced in the effectiveness of the justice system, to see that there was a real fight against corruption and injustice that is widespread in society.
