Bulgarian MEP Angel Dzhambazki is to approach the European Commission and the European Parliament over the failed gratuitous medical initiative in the Western Outlands. The Serbian authorities did not allow Bulgarian doctors from the First Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Sofia to do the necessary medical examination of the local population. The three Bulgarian doctors arrived in the town of Bosilegrad at the invitation of the Cultural and Information Center in Bosilegrad, the chairman of the center Ivan Nikolov explained. A group of 20 officers from the Serbian Gendarmerie were sent to that town to detain the Bulgarian doctors and spoil the medical examination initiative, Angel Dzhambazki told the Bulgarian National Radio. The people from the Bulgarian minority in Bosilegrad do not have access to medical assistance and often have to travel to the Serbian town of Vranya or to Bulgaria to receive such, MEP Dzhambazki further said. That is why we are to initiate a serious discussion at the EP and ask our colleagues how they would react if doctors from their countries or people from their communities abroad receive similar treatment, Angel Dzhambazki added.
