Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova held a working meeting in London with the Secretary General of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai. The meeting was held within the frameworks of the World Travel Market event for the global travel industry. The forthcoming International Congress of the World Civilizations and Ancient Routes under the initiative of the World Tourism Organization was in the focus of discussions. The event will be held in Bulgaria between November 14 and 16 next year. Minister Angelkova and Taleb Rifai discussed the development of tourism in Bulgaria. Minister Angelkova accentuated on the positive results in this field and provided official statistics in support of her statement. Until September 2017 the total number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria amounted to 7,492,630, which was 8% more as compared to the same period last year. According to data of the Bulgarian National Bank, the revenues from international tourism in the first 8 months of 2017 are to the tune of EUR 2.6 billion.
