The Sofia Wind Orchestra conducted by Hristofor Radanov is to give a concert on November 1 in Iskar House of Culture at 6.30 pm. The festive programme is dedicated to the National Enlighteners Day. It is composed entirely of author’s pieces and arrangements by Hristofor Radanov - a renowned Bulgarian composer, conductor and clarinetist who was part of several popular Bulgarian orchestras. When Hristofor graduated from the National Music Academy Professor Pancho Vladigerov he joined the Sofia Wind Orchestra. He was part of the Sofia Brass Orchestra for twenty whole years. Mr. Radanov headed the Bulgarian National Radio Folk Orchestra between 1990 and 2011 and composed a series of music pieces in that period. The recordings he made as conductor amount to over 2,000. He wrote hundreds of author’s pieces for the BNR Folk Orchestra. Hristofor Radanov is also holder of a series of prestigious awards.

“When I worked at the Bulgarian National Radio I used to write a lot of folklore music. I wrote music especially for some children’s formations. This concert is a wonderful opportunity to show my music skills in all genres I worked in. The festive programme is very rich and colorful. We begin with Mladezhki Poriv (Youth strife) March, which is followed by Muzika na Otkrito piece (Music Outdoors). The brass orchestras usually play outdoors and often hold concerts in parks and gardens. That is why this piece is named Music Outdoors. I included a piece dedicated to the acclaimed Bulgarian clarinetist and pedagogue Professor Petko Radev who passed away recently. I studied in the classes of Professor Radev at the National School of Music in Sofia. Naum Gruevski who also studied in the classes of Professor Radev is a soloist in this concert. Daniel Spasov will sing two songs at our concert. The Rhodopes rhapsody, which in my view is the most significant piece in my career, is also part of the festive programme. In 2015 this piece won First Prize at the Competition for Composition of Symphonic Work in7/8. It was ranked third in the audience vote. We also invited the Children Vocal and Theatrical Formation Talasamcheta headed by Dimitar Konstantsaliev. They will perform a song written by the Patriarch of the Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov. I can’t wait to see how it will be accepted by the audience. Of course I included in the forthcoming concert several Bulgarian Horo chain dances, as well as Folk Swing- my most popular author’s piece.”
