Bulgarian men live unhealthy lifestyles and are on top of the negative EU chart, figures released by Eurostat suggest.

Some 60 percent of men in this country are overweight with their Body Mass Index exceeding 25 which is the last-but-one phase prior to obesity.

Besides, a mere 15 percent of Bulgarian men spend at least 2 hours a week for sport or other kinds of physical exercise.

In figures from the National Statistical Institute in Sofia, Bulgarian men have an average life expectancy of 74 years. In women the average life expectancy is 78 years. This accounts for the shortest average life expectancy across the European Union.
