Bulgaria can rely on Poland's support for Schengen membership as it meets all requirements, Polish President Andrzej Duda said after a meeting in Warsaw with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.

The counterparts discussed the current migration crisis and the future of the EU. They expressed common positions on the topic of security. Poland will continue to help Bulgaria in protecting the external European border, Duda said. According to him, however, the door to the European Union must remain closed to Western Balkan countries.

On the topic of economy, President Radev pointed out that sanctions against Russia were harmful and that solutions must be sought with all the means of diplomacy without causing harm to the business.
