The enlargement of the European Union should continue into the Western Balkans and the countries from the Eastern Partnership initiative, as this would guarantee security and stability to the entire continent.

This is a shared stance voiced by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Romania, Ekaterina Zaharieva and Teodor Melescanu at a meeting in Euxinograd Residence, part of the joint session of the two countries’ governments.

The Bulgarian side has also raised the question about the resumption of Bulgarian-language Orthodox Christian service in Romania. Minister Melescanu has vowed to look for solutions with the competent institutions.
